Our Buddy Class - Rm5

Every 2nd Friday, Rm3 and Rm5 buddy up. Miss Playle and Mrs Gardner plan for some pretty special opportunities that allow the children to play and learn together. There are many important values that the children develop, like understanding, patience and working collaboratively in a different situation than they would normally in their classrooms. You can see the awesome relationships forming as older and younger children support each other. This week was buddy reading, check out the magic moments...

Our busy week

This week was a bit like the story of The Hungry Caterpillar....on Monday we stayed at home, on Tuesday we made  ginger beer in Rm 1 with Mrs Kelly, on Wednesday we made sherbet in Rm 2 with Miss Devonport and on Thursday we had a spelling test, a bit of maths, one "gr" brainstorm, a set of instructions, a whole lot of reading and a short game of fruit salad. We ended the day with whole school singing which made us feel much better!

The Tui's (Owen, Ryan, Emma, Hannah and Abigail) were very proud of the independent work they did in their follow up work after reading "Different Things We Get From Plants". They showed amazing teamwork and collaborative skills as every learner had an opportunity to contribute their writing skills and ideas. Way to go Tui's!

Rm 3 has also been lucky to have Susan from Rtlb visit and guide us through Circle Time activities. This programme provides learning experiences that allow the children to explore their own and others thoughts and feelings about ways to care for others in our class and school. The children really enjoy the fun games and discussion starters that Susan has introduced. Here they are playing sock wrestling, the laughter and squeals were heard throughout the school...

Following Up - Our Popcorn Mixed Media Art

After an exciting 1st rotation of popcorn making with Ms Hunter from Rm 4, we followed up by writing our own popcorn instructions and doing popcorn art. Here Room 3 kids are working on the 1st step in our mixed media artwork, painting our pots and popcorn pieces. Some of us focused on blending and shading our pots and popped corn. We still have lots more work to do. Join us in assembly this week to see our completed work.....

Technology in the classroom

This term our new hub of I-pads are up and running, thanks to the hard work of Miss Devenport and Mr Hill. Room 3 has been getting to know the maths and literacy games, and on Friday Miss Playle had the children working in small groups playing "tic tac toe" phonics style! It was fantastic to see great sportsmanship engagement and fun in the classroom. We will continue to explore other ways to integrate technology into our learning throughout the year...
