Samoa here we come!

With the completion of our gymnastics program for this term we are now heading full swing into our Preparation for our Samoa production. We will need your help and support to make it awesome so please keep an eye out for a notice home this week. We worked on our small group skills by creating a poster with facts, photos and children's drawings about our focus athlete, Ele Opeloge, Samoa's silver weightlifting medalist. The children were really motivated by watching Some of Ele's video clips showing her amazing strength and used research pages to find facts. We have also talked about what we know about Samoa and importantly what we want to know....teamwork skills are improving all the time as the children have highlighted that they need to work on including everyone and listening.

A Busy Week...

With so many opportunities to test their participation and contribution skills Rm3 students are becoming fearless! You should be so proud of your learners get up and go as all class members have taken part in all activities without question....

Our 2 Turquoise reading groups each had the chance to practice and perform their own version of a play from their Junior Journal to the class. Both were very expressive and entertaining, and proud of the job they did, take a look...

The Keas

The Katipos

Take a look at our teamwork skills as we test each other in our spelling. We have been supporting the practice all the children do at home with extra time to practice with our peers. There have been some fantastic results in our spelling tests every Friday. We all have 5 words from the essential list and 5 self chosen words from our story writing. We are working on using our spelling words in our writing to encourage the use of the fantastic spelling results into writing! Check out our "monster board" by the big whiteboard to see this weeks champion spellers.

Dennis has stepped up the ball handling challenges at soccer this week and the kids were keen to try them out. Not many goals were scored as players were able to keep the ball in hand more, hopefully if the fine weather continues we may be able to get onto the field outside and really see the ball in action. We have some great sideline cheerleaders encouraging each team, if you get am chance to come and watch we are Thursdays at 10am, be great to see you there.

participating and contributing

Our big idea in our learning this term is participating and contributing, take a look and see how Rm3 learners are embracing this concept!! Everyone has been working on their dribbling and passing skills in our awesome soccer program with Dennis. We are so lucky to be able to practice under Dennis's amazing coaching, and as well as our ball skills.we have also been working on our sportsmanship and team skills. We have been participating in gymnastics twice a week in partnership with Rm1. There is always a buzz of excitement when it appears on the class schedule. Apologies for some of the photo quality, tricky capturing motion on the iPad...still I hope you enjoy sharing in the fun!!
