Chinese New Year

What a busy week we have had in Rm3 exploring Chinese New Year. This has given us lots to research, write about and get creative about! The children have done a tremendous independent (but supported) effort on their lanterns and dragon art. We even had a special mystery guest come and share their amazing experiences on a recent visit to China, giving Rm3 learners an authentic insight into Chinese culture. We had planned questions in small groups around things we "wondered" about China, Mr Davies had hands up through much of his talk, with tricky questions like the one from Tom "how loud are firecrackers?". We also had a Rm1 learner read his favourite pop-up book to us for our "get comfortable teacher read" session, thanks Aaron!

Pets Week

Regardless of the challenge of flowers blowing off saucers and feathers getting flustered by the winds, it was awesome to see so many members of our school community and others join us for a fantastic day of crafts and pets! A big thank you once again for showing such support to your children and grandchildren it truly was wonderful how proud the children were of their amazing creations...take a look at some of the cool pets that turned up on the day, very cute!!

Our First Week Back...

It was fantastic to see so many bright and enthusiastic faces on Monday morning. This set the tone for a really busy and productive week with Firewise and the start of our athletics program. Hopefully you have all seen a copy of last weeks class newsletter and taken note of the many upcoming events. We would love to have you join us whenever you can!! Check out some of the highlights from our amazing end of term FEAST and our learning this week...a special pic also of Samson proudly wearing his new reading tool for the first time at school!

Our shared lunch, with a huge mostly healthy menu (a few treats for good measure!) It was awesome to see so many parents, brothers and sisters join us....this makes it extra special.

Samson wearing his new glasses for the first time in his reading group, he read so fast it...

Our Firewise session with a number of local firefighters. Rm3 students shared so much knowledge and asked really great questions. The imaginary house and smoke excercise was, despite being a very serious exercise, rather exciting!!

Our maths shape work using shaped blocks to make structures.

Mrs Sala lost her voice so Karen joined us for some of the afternoon to read and lead our discussions about birthday celebrations.

Hands on maths teamwork, finding shapes in our environment for our collages.

Rm3 enjoying the new layout of our room, with a chance to relax and read on our giant cushion and beanbag and get in some writing practice at our writers workshop. Thanks to those awesome parents who are helping us to keep our writing resources stocked, it truly makes a difference!
